Plant & Process Safety Engineer YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures compliance with Bayer and regulatory requirements related to plant and process safety. In particular, guides site management to ensure compliance with and drives toward industry best practice for all aspects of EPA Risk Management Program and OSHA Process Safety Management. Plans and manages site plant and process safety review program. Provides technical expertise for site management and other US/regional production sites. Support the development/refinement of site process safety strategy; audits and identifies gaps in site PSM/RMP program relative to industry best practices. Works with site leadership to resolve gaps and drive toward industry leading practices. Aspects of this include: training, operating procedures, mechanical integrity, contractor management in addition to elements spelled out below. This role serves as a coach for the PPS Community with the goal of developing leadership qualities, exploring possibilities to streamline activities, and reimagining ownerships of their respective areas. Ensures PHA s and process safety information including remain evergreen Manages and plans project and PHA safety reviews Leads / owns Risk Management Plan efforts and facility siting evaluations Manages site Management of Change program, including key performance indicators, management review and leadership support for execution and improvement Leads or consults in incident investigations related to plant and process safety. Lead auditing/inspection effort both by internal as well as governmental agencies Defines and provides strategic direction for critical and complex regulatory requirements related to plant and process safety to site leadership and regional partners Recommends plant and process safety KPI s for site leadership ensures the data is provided. Develop and maintain expertise in multiple areas of process safety engineering (e.g., PSM, RMP, PHA, SIL systems, etc.) as well as generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP) and process safety related government and industry standards (i.e., OSHA, NFPA, ASME, EPA and API) and chemical process safety. Influences the regulatory landscape by regular interaction with regulators and industry trade groups. Drives Results: persistent, target and decision-oriented work style Manages Complexity: effectively solves problems, excellent analytical skills; systematic, methodological approach to complex problems Collaborates: works cooperatively with others, good leadership skills Leader competencies of incumbent according to Bayer Competency Model: Courage: committed to implement business goals and the requirements of the Bayer Safety Management, including internal and external PPS guidelines and regulations Manages Ambiguity WHO YOU ARE Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent with 10 years related experience OR MS in Chemical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of related experience Minimum of 5 years "hands on" production experience in a PSM/RMP regulated facility. Extensive knowledge of PSM/RMP program elements and requirements. Proven leadership and communication skills. Preferred qualifications Experience in performing, facilitating and documenting process hazard analysis using detailed, systematic approaches. Expertise in occupational safety, construction safety and/or fire protection. WHAT WE OFFER Base salary estimated range between $123,456.00 - $185,184.00 annually, depending on the hiring location.
