Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Plasma Operator for a metal fabrication shop in Boring, Oregon.
Job Summary:
The Plasma Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating plasma cutting equipment to cut and shape metal materials according to detailed specifications in a metal fabrication shop.
This role requires attention to detail, precision, and knowledge of different metals and cutting techniques.
The Plasma Operator works closely with the production team to ensure timely and accurate completion of fabrication tasks.
Responsibilities:
Set up, adjust, and operate plasma cutting machines to cut metal materials such as steel, aluminum, or other alloys based on engineering drawings or work orders.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications to determine cutting patterns, dimensions, and material requirements.
Select appropriate materials for cutting, ensuring proper handling, storage, and protection of metal stock.
Inspect cut pieces for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Ensure that tolerances and quality standards are met.
Set up plasma cutting equipment, including adjusting parameters like voltage, air pressure, and cutting speed. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure the equipment operates efficiently.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
Work collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines, manage workflow, and contribute to the efficient operation of the shop.
Maintain accurate records of job specifications, material usage, and production progress. Report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Perform regular housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
Previous experience operating plasma cutting equipment in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment is required
Proficient in using plasma cutters, cutting tables, and other metalworking machinery. Knowledge of different types of metals and their cutting characteristics is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail to ensure cuts are accurate, and materials meet required specifications.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues and adapt to changing production needs.
Ability to lift and move metal materials, as well as stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.
Knowledge of shop safety standards and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
