Plumber/Pipefitter
##LOCATION##
The MWRA is seeking a Plumber Pipefitter to install, modify and repair new and existing pressured and non-pressured piping systems and related equipment. The work includes installing, modifying and repairing pressured piping systems such as steam generation, steam heating, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, condensation systems, vacuum and circulating pumping systems in industrial operations and other equipment/systems; interpreting from building plans, blueprints and sketches, plans and lays out routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion and operation of various piping/plumbing systems; setting up system routes, placing hangers for proper pitch and elevation and determining and installing risers, flexible branches, expansion points, and pump connections; selecting and obtaining appropriate stock or materials per established procedures, and tools or machines for the job; performing work in the field and in the piping shop using related equipment of the pipefitter or plumber trade for the cutting, bending, threading and fabrication of various pipe sizes; performing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on pipes, valves, reducing stations, back flow preventors, and associated equipment gaskets; performing welding operations common to the trade; installing new or replacing piping systems, equipment and fixtures; preparing documents and reporting results in the Maximo, Lawson or other appropriate Database of inspections and work performed; performing light maintenance including but not limited to: inspecting and troubleshooting various systems and equipment, installing and retrofitting new equipment related to plant systems, modifying and/or aligning existing equipment to specifications, operating portable pumping and/or ventilation equipment, open hatches and installing safety rails.
This position requires a high school diploma; satisfactory completion of a certified Journey Level pipefitter or plumber apprenticeship program, or a similar formal training program; four (4) to six (6) years of related experience, a valid driver's license and a valid Massachusetts Journeyman Pipefitter or Plumber License.
