About the Job
The Operating Technician I is responsible for preparation, set-up, start and running manufacturing equipment under the guidance of the Production Shift Leader. Accountabilities also include ensuring that jobs meet quality specifications, manufacturing standards and that safety procedures are followed while working to continuously improve quality and productivity of manufacturing operations.
Essential Accountabilities
- Set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment to produce thermoformed parts to specification.
- Ensure maximum efficiency of set-up to include set-up time, materials, production rate and material consumption.
- Machine readiness - inspect machinery, equipment and tooling prior to set-up.
- Identify issues, which adversely affect product requirements and communicate with appropriate department personnel for resolution.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.
- Identify nonconforming materials/products and work with shift leader for resolution.
- Ensure part quality meets established standards.
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, as required.
- Complete all shift documentation/paperwork.
- Shift hand-off - go over job status and updates with incoming shift.
- Participate in safety programs.
- Follow all established safety procedures.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
- Ability to operate forklift
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year manufacturing or related experience;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to read, write and speak English to meet training, safety and quality requirements.
- Ability to solve basic math problems.
Desired Skills
- Experience operating manufacturing equipment;
- Organization and time management;
- Computer and software skills;
- Knowledge of quality control principles and Statistical Process Control,

Work Environment Conditions:
ÂÂÂÂInside - manufacturing environment may include hot working conditions.
Equipment/Tools Used:
Thermoforming equipment, computers, controls, measurement equipment, pallet jacks, hand tools
Physical Requirements: Light work (lift 10 lbs): continuously - cases of product and hand tools
Medium Work (lift 11-30 lbs.) regularly - cases of product and pallets (3-4 times per shift). Heavy Work (lift 31-50 lbs.) occasionally - (one to two times per shift): cases of product and pallets Other Physical Requirements: Bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, twisting, standing for long periods of time
