About the Job
The Lab Point of Care Supervisor is a lead position within the Clinical Laboratory that is responsible for the coordination of point of care testing. This support crosses multiple laboratory and clinic locations. Lab Point of Care Supervisor provides technical resources and daily direction to nurses and medical assistants with regard to laboratory policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. The Lab Point of Care Supervisor assures quality testing and accurate test performance through operator training, competency assessment, equipment monitoring, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control review, and proficiency testing. This position reports directlyh to the Laboratory Director.
Qualifications:
+ Education
+ Minimum Requirement: AAS in Medical Laboratory Technology
+ Preferred at Hire: BS Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science
+ Equipment (Experience and/or Training)
+ M inimum Requirement: 5 years Hospital Laboratory setting, including current working experience in high complexity testing lab sections
+ Preferred at Hire: 5+ years Hospital Laboratory, including current experience managing POC testing program, including iStat and AccuCheck testing systems
+ Certification/Licensure (including annual requirements)
+ M inimum Requirements: Current certification as MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), or MLT(ASCP) or eligible to obatain within 6 months of employment
+ Preferred at Hire: MLS(ASCP)
+ Experience (Years/Type)
+ Minimum Requirement: 5 years Generalist Experience in a Hospital Laboratory
+ Preferred at Hire: 5+ years of Generalist Experience with recent experience in the management of a POC testing program
+ Computer Skills (Hardware & Software)
+ Minimum Requirement: W orking knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based system and Epic Beaker; working knowledge of various cloud-based computing and information management applications such as Office 365; knowledge and practical application of informatics, dashboards, and statistical computing programs
+ Preferred at Hire: Extensive knowledge of the following software products: Epic Beaker, Microsoft Excel, Word, A ccess, and PowerPoint. W orking knowledge of RALS

+ Minimum Requirement: Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving are required to be successful. Organizational skills are a must. Fosters a teamwork environment. Must be able to communicate with patients, customers, other departments, and staff in an articulate manner. Excellent Critical Thinking Skills. Must commit to continuous quality improvement and employee ongoing education. Must possess publis speaking skills and the ability to understand varied learner and cognitive characteristics in testing personnel. Must be willing to adjust instructional style to meet the needs of learners.
Preferred at Hire: Documented work experience as POC section leader, department supervisor, or laboratory coordinator AND recent evidence of successful completion of implementation processes requiring project management skills. Previous experience with lab renovation and performance improvement initiatives.Previous experience implementing large scale testing platforms across various healthcare system departments.
