GENERAL SUMMARY:
A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will be able to enjoy the many amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, the academic and athletic facilities, and the park-like campus. They will be able to enjoy all these benefits while living in a village designed specifically for their interests and needs. As part of the Purchase College community, Broadview residents will enjoy both formal and informal programming and collaborative opportunities designed to promote intergenerational engagement with members of the college community, ranging from classes and mentoring to providing employment opportunities for students. Broadview will offer the full continuum of services, inclusive of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community is slated to open to residents in the 4th quarter of 2023.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and creative Pool Manager and Fitness Instructor to take ownership of our aquatic programming and collaborate on developing an innovative wellness program for older adults. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a brand-new, intergenerational learning community. We are looking for someone with a passion for fitness, dance, and cultural arts, who is eager to learn new skills, take on a leadership role, and be part of a collaborative, community-oriented environment. Aquatics experience is not required, but a willingness to learn and grow within the role is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pool Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pool, ensuring it remains a safe, clean, and welcoming space for all users.
- Learn and apply essential pool management skills, including safety protocols, maintenance scheduling, and compliance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with the Community Life team to integrate pool activities into the broader wellness programming.
- Ensure proper record-keeping of pool attendance, supervision, maintenance, and incidents.
- Creative Aquatics and Fitness Programming:
- Take creative ownership of aquatic fitness offerings, designing and leading classes from the deck that cater to older adults, with options for all fitness levels.
- Collaborate on the development of a holistic aquatics wellness program that aligns with community values and supports resident health.
- Bonus: Lead fitness classes on land in our studio (yoga, dance-inspired fitness, strength training, etc.) if qualified.
- Bonus: Use your background in dance and cultural arts to enhance programming, creating engaging and fun routines that foster a sense of joy and connection among participants.
- Collaboration and Community Engagement:
- Work closely with the larger Community Life team to design programs that reflect the interests and needs of an intergenerational learning environment.
- Participate in community events, special wellness workshops, and other collaborative projects.
- Be an active participant in fostering a positive, inclusive, and innovative environment for both residents and staff.
Qualifications:
- A background in fitness, dance, or cultural arts (Required).
- Strong motivation to learn new skills and take on creative leadership in a wellness and fitness context.
- CPR certification (Required by the time of hire).
- Aquatics experience (Not required, but willingness to learn is essential).
- Experience teaching group fitness classes (Preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, with a desire to foster community and connection through creative fitness programs.
- A passion for working with older adults and being part of a vibrant, intergenerational community.
