About the Job
As a Data Science Postdoc, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (JJIM) and play a vital role in improving the health of people worldwide. In this role, you will be part of the Data Science Analytics & Insights team within JJIM R&D, focusing on developing innovative solutions using a variety of data sources across multiple different disease areas. Specifically, we are seeking an exceptional candidate with expertise in Computer Vision or AI in medical imaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceive, develop, and implement novel computer vision algorithms to address high-priority scientific problems in the field of medical imaging.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with external companies and internal scientific, clinical, and data science teams to drive innovation and enhance research capabilities.
- Shape internal and external collaborations by defining the scope of research questions and identifying areas of scientific interest.
- Extract valuable insights from complex and unstructured biomedical image or video data to enhance drug discovery and improve healthcare outcomes, such as disease identification, patient stratification, and disease insights.
- Effectively communicate highly technical methods and results to diverse audiences and partners, enabling informed decision-making.
- PhD degree in a quantitative field like statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related area. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in driving research and applying Computer Vision techniques, including Transformers, CNNs, Diffusion, and GANs.
- Extensive hands-on experience with medical imaging modalities such as mobile photos, pathology, retina, radiology, and advanced image processing. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python and C .
- Extensive experience with traditional Computer Vision applications, including OpenCV, object detection, edge detection, and image segmentation.
- Strong publication record in high-impact journals and the ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience.
- Enthusiastic about using data to inspire scientific advancement.
- Hands-on experience with technical data analysis, cloud computing (AWS, Azure), and dockerization.
- Experience with dermatology images, object character recognition (OCR), and medical imaging anonymization.
- Familiarity with multimodal AI.
- Exposure to drug discovery and clinical development processes.
- Experience working closely with healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of disease biology in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular research.
- Travel may be required, both nationally and internationally, to support collaborations and attend conferences.
- Certifications are a plus and should be specified as preferred rather than required.
