What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking a Power Electronics Principal Engineer to lead the power electronics and VSD control development for embedded processor using MATLAB/SIMULINK. You will have the opportunity to design, test and sustain electronic Printed Circuit Board (PCBs) assemblies and components, as well as conduct prototype testing and confirm that the product operates as expected with reference to specific documented requirements. This position is based in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance, or able to relocate.
How you will do it
Conduct system modeling, system simulation and verification using MATLAB/Simulink with Auto-code generation.
Conduct prototype testing on hardware-in-loop system, variable speed drives and chiller to verify control performance.
Support field issue trouble shooting and control method improvements.
Maintain electronic circuit designs with embedded processors and FPGA/CPLD.
Perform worst case circuit analysis and incorporation of appropriate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over the environmental specifications.
Assist internal customers to develop, test and support PCBA related projects.
Independently conduct and apply cost analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
Understanding and complying with quality policy, procedures and instructions to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
What you will do
Required
BSEE or BSCE, or related field.
5+ years of experience with system modeling and simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK
Deep understanding of power electronics and motor control
Controller design using MATLAB/SIMULINK
Preferred
Experience with Auto-code generation using MATLAB/SIMULINK
Familiarity with circuit design and layout tools such as Mentor Graphic
Familiarity with TI DSPs
