Powertrain Operations Manager - Archer

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What You'll Do:
- Manage the production of electric powertrains (battery, inverter, motor, gearbox)
- Work closely with the engineering teams to support manual, semi-automated, and automated equipment bring-up, process validation, and operations
- Supervise, coach, mentor manufacturing technicians
- Participate in build readiness reviews and execute build plan
- Review and maintain standard work instructions
- Create and maintain training materials and logs
- Manage line side inventory and production orders
- Manage day to day operations to meet production targets
- Generate daily production and quality reports for engineering and operations team
- Support root cause investigations & corrective action tracking
- Develop and enforce 5S practices
- Drive continuous improvements in operations
- Create Voice Of Customer requirements and documentation to continuously improve Manufacturing Execution System (MES) features, operations dashboards, and other operations workflows.
- Provide feedback to application developers on how tools are used on the shop floor to drive enhancements.
- Work with cross-functional teams from IT, manufacturing, program management to deliver world class tools to automate traditional operations problems. Examples include material planning, build schedule, factory performance, preventive maintenance, 5S audits, MRO inventory.
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 2+ years in leadership position
- 5+ years in manufacturing, EV and / or aerospace preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Efficient documentation and written communication
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast paced and highly regulated environment with adaptability to changing priorities
- Direct hands on build experience with mechanical and electronic assemblies using sophisticated manufacturing equipment
- High workmanship standards
- Basic knowledge of GD&T
- Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization methods
- Experience following all aspects of maintenance safety protocol (LOTO, 5S, Arc Flash, etc.).
- Experience using PLM, MES, and ERP software
- Direct experience architecting or developing apps in low code environments
- Understanding of AS9100 requirements
- Understanding aircraft safety, tool control, FOD, and industry standards
- Ability to provide off-hours and on-call support
Bonus Qualifications:
- Knowledge of IPC 610/620 & AC43.13-B
- A&P certification
- EV/eVTOL knowledge or experience
- Experience with high voltage wiring, batteries, and electric motor
- Aircraft configuration management and conformity experience
- Direct experience programming and troubleshooting industrial automation (PLC, robots, gantries, etc…)
- Basic CAD experience (i.e. NX, Catia, Solidworks)

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
