Job Summary:
The Providence Center Pre Kindergarten Therapeutic Intervention Specialist will support the Teacher in creating and maintaining a positive classroom environment by providing individually, culturally, and developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum interventions within Imagine Preschool learning environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support teacher to implement daily routines, schedules, and learning experiences in Imagine Preschool classrooms.
Develop positive relationships with colleagues as well as families and children who attend Imagine Preschool.
Use evidence-based practices integrated into curriculum that support positive relationships, supportive learning environments, and the development of children’s social/emotional, language, physical and cognitive skills.
Support and model respectful collegial relationships within Imagine Preschool learning environments.
Support inclusion of children with disabilities by modifying or adapting curriculum as directed, and collaborating with clinicians and/or special service providers as needed including implementation of therapeutic integration plans
Welcome visiting community providers into classroom space during observations.
Treat children and families with respect.
Maintain active involvement in professional organizations in the community.
Monitor confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.
Complete required daily reports and data forms.
Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner.
Initiate and process incident reports as per Center guidelines.
Adhere to Infection Control protocols.
Deal with team members regarding problems in a constructive manner.
Accept and use direction and supervision.
Benefit from constructive criticism.
Attend trainings and conferences
Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended
Attend mandatory inservice trainings and other trainings required
Participate in inservice training designed for preschool staff at The Center.
Requirements:
Associate’s Degree in a related field such as child study, child psychology, early childhood special education, elementary education, preferred.
Experience working with children.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret instructions, documents and follow procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively with families, colleagues, and other people in the community.
Adult/Child/Infant CPR and First Aid certification maintained and renewed as needed.
Strong knowledge of health, safety and wellness in relation preschool development. Specifically state and federal regulations, safety and emergency procedures, physical and emotional health and nutrition.
Ability to support children’s physical and mental health and well-being.
The ability to reflect on practice in order to continually build skills and competencies.
