Bombay Bicycle Club has been a San Antonio favorite for 50 years. We are a family-owned neighborhood bar and grill and we pride ourselves on consistently providing our customers with fresh, delicious American fare with quality ingredients at a great value. We are currently hiring for a full time , mostly evenings Prep/Line Cook. Whether you're an experienced applicant or someone who loves to cook and is comfortable in a commercial kitchen you should be able to cook/prep our menu within their first 12 shifts of training & become reasonably self sufficient. We recently opened a second location. This position might float between both of our locations at North St. Mary's and downtown Hemisfair. This creates potential for increased hours.

Responsibilities:
-Timely arrival to work with a clean and professional appearance
-Check in with and follow instructions of shift manager
-Learn about the cooking methods and techniques employed in the Bombay kitchen
-Maintain consistency of high quality plating of food
-Learn about and understand the cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen appliances and environment
-Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment at all times
-Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are ready for use
-Timely and proper washing and storing of dishes
-Study the menu and prepare ingredients ahead of schedule
-Gather food ingredients from the refrigerator or freezer as required
-Assist the team by cutting and/or chopping vegetables and washing food items for FOH and BOH
-Prepare all ingredients and menu items according to established recipes
-Ensure food is stored & rotated properly as per established procedures
-All other duties assigned to you by manager
Qualifications:
-Experience working with a team and respects authority
-Passionate about learning and not afraid to ask questions
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Comfortable with multitasking and good organizational skills
-Basic understanding of ingredients and ability to follow written instructions ( recipes)
-Able to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately and efficiently
-Basic understanding of personal good hygiene
-Familiar with general kitchen equipment and appliances
-Able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
-Physically able to stand and move around for long periods of time
Education/Training/Work Experience Requirements:
-High school diploma, or general equivalency diploma (GED)
-Ability to learn quickly
-1+ years' experience being part of a team
-Demonstrated excellent communication skills
-Able to work as part of a small team in a busy kitchen atmosphere
-English/Spanish bilingual not required but an asset upon arrival
-Food Handlers Certificate (required within first 2 weeks)
-Basic knowledge of proper food handling procedures
-Able to read and follow standardized recipes
