Summary of Role (Purpose)• The Principal Quality Architect is responsible for development and implementation of risk-based quality programs within the District. The role will provide direction and guidance to engineers and other staff members in determining strategies for building quality into the development process and will be responsible for communicating and evangelizing quality and testing strategies and best practices to the broader organization. The quality architect guides teams in determining strategies for building quality into the development process. Individuals in this role must have a deep technical background specializing in quality assurance while also being strong collaborators and communicators.Responsibilities:• Leads the development and implementation of risk-based quality programs during the development of highly complex, cloud-native applications.• Leads the design, development and implementation of tactical and strategic technical solutions that support the overall quality strategy and program.• Leads the definition of quality assurance development guidelines and standards to be utilized in development and/or integration initiatives.• Champions and communicates quality and testing strategies and best practices to engineering teams and other stakeholders.• Provide technical training, information, and technical expertise to other automation and business area staff, as necessary.• Define and enforce best practices for testing within a cloud-native environment including scalability, resilience, and security.• Assist in research, evaluates, and recommend solutions, identify ways to reuse existing code, and designs prototypes using current or emerging technologies.• Provides input into District and System IT Strategies and drives alignment with architectural strategies• Builds professional relationships with executives to gather and articulate the technical vision, and to produce strategic plans for realizing it.• Works with senior business leaders to define quality/architecture business goals and priorities and provides support for budgeting and planning processes where required.• Collaborates and influences governance bodies to shepherd the development of quality assurance standards and policies.• Provides leadership and guidance, including work direction, to the teams responsible for developing and implementing quality practices throughout the organization.• Analyzes current architectures and processes to identify weaknesses or optimization opportunities while developing mitigation strategies to close gaps between current and desired future states.• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in testing• Proactively identifies and explores innovation and/or continuous improvement opportunities.• Participates and/or leads guilds or workgroups locally and across the System.• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Systems Analysis, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering or architecture disciplines with at least 5 years in a role focused on Quality Assurance.
