Principal Software Architect at Peraton

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a motivated Principal Software Architect to join our team on-site in Washington, DC., providing information management and information technology (IT) support for critical technical work to operate and maintain the classified networks for executive-level government leaders.

The ideal candidate will possess recent advanced hands-on technical experience in-lieu of technical managers. For the Principal Software Architect position, we are looking for an individual that can hit the ground running and is familiar with a variety of architectural concepts to implement and we are in need of someone who possesses hands-on technical implementation knowledge.

Our unique program delivers high-profile, technical infrastructure support for our customer and its relative nodes over the world. The team provides Personnel Management, Systems Engineering and administration, Software Engineering (SharePoint Development and Project Management/Systems Integration support), and Facility Management (Voice/Video Network Integration and Engineering) solutions.

The Principal Software Architect will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Define and drive the overall software architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability requirements.
• Select and implement appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for each project.
• Design and present architectural solutions that meet technical and business requirements.
• Lead the design and development of complex software systems from conception to implementation.
• Translate business requirements into comprehensive technical specifications and solutions.
• Define and enforce software architecture standards and best practices.
• Mentor and guide software engineers to improve coding skills, maintain code quality, and provide technical leadership and direction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with software development projects.
• Document software designs and architecture decisions clearly and concisely.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality and maintainability.

This role requires 100% on-site support M-F.

All contractor personnel supporting this program are considered mission essential, emergency mission essential, and weather emergency essential.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• An active/current TS with SCI eligibility is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and twelve (12) years of relevant experience; Master's degree and ten (10) years of relevant experience; PhD and seven (7) years of relevant experience; Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
• An active/current Security+ Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months from start.
• At least seven (7) years of experience as a software architect or senior software engineer.
• Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale software systems.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, .NET, JAVA).
• Deep understanding of software design principles and best practices.
• Expertise with DevOps and agile software development.
• Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Kubernetes, JIRA, Bitbucket).
• Experience with cloud computing technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 12+ years of relevant experience; Master's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; PhD and seven (7+) years of relevant experience.

The Ideal Candidate will have familiarity with/be able to speak to:

• Major software architectural styles and design patterns.
• Software development in conjunction with principles of the Agile Manifesto.
• Docker/Container manifest files.
• Kubernetes Control Plane elements and components to include clusters & nodes.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
