We are the Azure Incubations Team within the Azure Office of the CTO, responsible for identifying new product ideas, incubating those ideas, and if they're successful, creating open source community around the idea and handing off to Azure's service teams. **Responsibilities**
We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer with experience bringing projects to first version products or services. You'll help us evolve a strategic, high potential incubation into an open source project with potential to deliver a 1P service within the Azure ecosystem. In this role you will:?
+ Deliver the next generation open source cloud native deployment framework.?
+ Establish engineering processes and?drive?technology choices?to deliver a performant, resilient, secure product?that we are happy to share with the?open-source?community.?Demonstrate deep understanding of?the?up and downstream effects of?these?choices.??
+ Engage with internal partner teams to enable?new technology?across a broad range of services.??
+ Build bridges between groups,?providing?team, community, and industry leadership and?help define?strategy.?Enable?cross team?communications and resolve conflicts between teams.?
+ Engage and contribute to the?open-source?community built around your project.?
+ Be a proactive technical leader, engaged with mentoring and identifying friction areas for members of the team.

**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Rust, Go, Java,, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:?
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check:?This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.?
**Preferred Qualifications:?**
+ Experience building complex orchestration frameworks in the cloud native computing space.
+ Deep experience in Go and C#.
+ Experience with Kubernetes and cloud provisioning frameworks.
+ Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.?
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
