Position Profile
The Prior Authorization Specialist will obtain prior authorization from non-Medicare insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Obtains prior authorization from non-Medicare insurance companies.
- Contacts non-Medicare insurance companies for prior authorization upon patient admission.
- Documents authorization notes and status in EMR and patient’s electronic chart.
- Initiates, supports, and participates in efforts to gain authorization.
- Brings complex cases to Prior Authorization Nurse(s) so they can assist in obtaining authorization.
- Maintains and enhances professional skills.
- Adheres to high standards of personal and professional conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Minimum three years of recent administrative experience in the medical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospice experience preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial and AHCCCS payers.
- Knowledge of insurance regulations related to hospice healthcare benefits.
