Position Summary:
The Process Engineer will be required to identify and implement process changes to improve yields, reduce costs, reduce downtime, increase throughput, and improve quality for all products. The Process Engineer must work effectively with the Operations team, Maintenance personnel, Team Leaders, Research & Development Chemists, Project Engineers, and the Department Manager to accomplish plant goals.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for overall process performance of assigned assets (OEE)
- Tracks OEE metrics to goal, performs data/gap analysis, and reports weekly on major areas of opportunity for assigned assets.
- Reviews production exceptions daily and works directly with production crews, team leaders, technical staff, and management to develop plans to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Identifies and drives out sources of variability related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) through application of the Rapid Problem-Solving Tool (RPS), continuous improvement initiatives, and development of standards/work instructions.
- Conducts trials to improve yields, reduce costs, improve runtime, improve quality, and to scale-up products.
- Develops and equipment settings (recipes) for all products.
- Applies the Management of Change (MOC) process to plan, communicate, and implement changes to the manufacturing process.
- Develops and/or updates Standard Work to establish manning, cycle time, and throughput goals for assigned assets.
- Develops Work Instructions for new processes/equipment and frequently audits and updates existing work instructions for improvement.
- Ensures manufacturing equipment is operated in a safe manner.
- Creates and maintains Machine Safety Controls Validation (MSCV) check sheets for assigned assets.
- Supports and enforces site and department safety goals. This is to include involvement in accident investigations, housekeeping audits and completion of corrective actions.
- Creates and maintains Operator Preventative Maintenance procedures for assigned assets.
- Investigates quality claims to root cause and develops and executes corrective actions to eliminate recurrence.
- Leads projects and project teams - including Kaizen events, continuous improvement initiatives, and Capital investments
- Conducts daily Process validation rounds and acts with urgency to remedy deficiencies
- Procures, tracks, and maintains process related consumables (tools, dies, process rolls, knives, etc.)

Education and/or Experience:
- Education: BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering. Will also consider other engineering degrees with relevant industry experience.
- Experience: At least four (7) years of experience as a Process Engineer in a related industry.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Able to use a systematic approach in solving problems through analysis of problem and evaluation of alternate solutions; use logic, mathematics, or other problem-solving tools in data analysis or in generating solutions.
- Initiative: Must be a highly motivated individual willing to get involved hands-on at the line to understand issues and develop ideas for improvement. Individual must be able and willing to learn how to operate equipment, repair / troubleshoot equipment alongside maintenance or technical staff, and confidently convey findings, solutions, and status reports to management.
- Decision Making and Problem Solving: Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics.

- Must have the ability to develop a strong working knowledge of ERPs, Wonderware, Cognos, and other computer systems that support the production system. Individual must have experience working with Microsoft Excel to analyze data, including the use of pivot tables for pareto.
- Experience with Auto CAD highly preferred
Language Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, both inside and outside the company.
Work Environment:
- The person in this position normally works in a manufacturing environment with a significant amount of time spent in the manufacturing facility. Hearing, eye and foot protection are mandatory in the manufacturing area.
