Summary:  

Product Designer Senior

The Product Designer Senior is responsible for bringing innovative ideas, new solutions, and strategic vision to life through outstanding design-no matter what the medium, but especially visual design. The mission of the Innovation Incubator at Dataworks is to find the next big idea in digital innovation. This team is highly collaborative, creative, and scrappy. As a member of the Incubator team, you'll explore problem and opportunity spaces in new technologies, new products/services, and new ways of working.

This role is critical to bringing ideas and solutions to life with great design.

Under minimal supervision employs customer-centered design principles, skills, methods, and technologies and knowledge of business/product design and development as part of Dataworks Product Design team and capability projects.

Product Designer Lead

Employs advanced expertise of all customer-centered design principles, skills, methods, and technologies and deep expertise of business/product development to lead design project teams through full design activities and all aspects of design projects. Primarily interacts with professionals and management of internal clients. Leads collaboration with Design Researchers, Creative Designers, and interactions with external customers. Performs activities/roles such as: Frames and reframes business challenges to focus design efforts; Empathizes with customers to discover pain points and unmet needs- Synthesizes customer and other research to develop key insights; Brainstorms ideas and develops high impact concepts and business opportunities; Prototypes and tests concepts with customers; Uses effective storytelling methods to convey knowledge or pitch opportunities; Facilitates collaborative design activities and methods; Coaches less senior staff and other employees in customer-centered design principles, skills, methods, and technologies.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

Product Designer Senior

• Leads conversations based on organizational strategy and principles to create alignment.
• Facilitates discussions across teams, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to share their opinion and be heard, and that discussion outcomes tie to stated goals.
• Guides discussions toward decisions, clarifies user experience strategy, and gets buy-in.
• Works collaboratively with stakeholders to sketch potential use cases or user flows.
• Creates highly detailed design artifacts (flows, journey maps, service blueprints, wires, mocks, prototypes, specs, related documentation) to clearly communicate a compelling desired future state for the product.
• Develops and maintains UI components, patterns, libraries, and guidelines for a cohesive user experience as part of Design System development.
• Organizes content and navigation effectively on an application level (e.g., sitemap) and screen level (e.g., wireframe). Plans and executes card sorting activities with appropriate stakeholders.
• Works with a Lead UX Researcher to select the appropriate research techniques.

Product Designer Lead  

• Provides expert-level UX strategy, guidance, and design across multiple projects at a time - including workshops, design principals, user research, user personas, user testing, wireframes, user flows, and other representations of UX design direction to guide teams through design processes.
• Leads by example - does great work and help people on the team learn how you do it.
• Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand business goals, objectives, and user needs, and translates them into compelling product experiences that drive successful outcomes.
• Creates processes and pathways for Designers and Engineers to contribute to the design system.
• Guides design discussions toward decisions, clarifies user experience strategy, and gets buy-in.
• Works collaboratively with stakeholders to sketch potential use cases or user flows.
• Creates highly detailed design artifacts (flows, journey maps, service blueprints, wires, mocks, prototypes, specs, related documentation) to clearly communicate a compelling desired future state for the product.
• Organizes content and navigation effectively on an application level (e.g., sitemap) and screen level (e.g., wireframe). Plans and executes card sorting activities with appropriate stakeholders.
• Develops and maintains design systems, patterns, libraries, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all capability teams for the product.
• Provides thought leadership and creative direction to other designers.
• Collaborates with other designers and developers to finalize designs and to ensure technical feasibility, with Engineering Leads and Product Owners to capture and write requirements.

• Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from stakeholders.
• Knowledge or work experience in design, design thinking, or related discipline.
• Ability to use Figma & Adobe Creative Suite to create design solutions leveraging a design system.
• Experience in product design, interaction design, information design, information architecture, and web design.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
• Ability to justify design decisions and articulate alternative design approaches.
• Fascinated by challenges, ready to jump into collaborative teamwork, and understands the significance of delivering work of second-to-none quality.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and continuous iterations; self-starter attitude that will do what it takes/learn what is needed to get the job done right.
• Mentored by more senior team members in customer-centered design principles, skills, methods, and technologies, but curious and has an eagerness to learn and grow design skill set without guidance from others.

Product Designer Lead

This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Product Designer Senior

Three - Four Years experience delivering successful design work. Bachelor's degree/equivalent in Design, Business, or related field. A portfolio of work showcasing a strong sense of visual design. Some Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments. Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from stakeholders. Knowledge or work experience in design, design thinking, or related discipline. Good interpersonal skills. Good written and verbal communication skills.

Product Designer Lead

Bachelor's degree/ equivalent in Design, Business or related field. Five to seven (5 - 7) years experience in design, design thinking, or related discipline, related to projects with ambiguous changes and a highly collaborative environment, including clients in an agency environment. Two (2) years experience in leading design thinking work streams. Moderately advanced human relations and communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation, and digital presentation software. Moderately advanced understanding for user behaviors as it informs design.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the currentstarting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factorspermitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range $7,160-$12,500/monthly
