Responsibilities
Manages the activities of the Production Control Department. Plans, organizes and manages program requirements for successful performance and completion by Production Control. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Master Production Schedule. Participates in program status meetings. Assesses problem areas to determine impact to overall program and develops corrective action measures to be implemented. Interfaces with functional managers to ensure that program requirements are met. Supervises the activities of and provides direction to Production Control personnel to ensure timely manufacture of products. Works with other operations managers to balance workload and manpower availability. Manages budgets to ensure cost effective completion of tasks. Releases and maintains all appropriate paperwork. Prepares manufacturing labor hour estimates and may participate in contract negotiations. NOTE: In certain areas, the positions of Manager, Production Control and Manager, Material Control are combined.
We are searching for a reliable, innovative production engineer to oversee manufacturing processes at our company. You will join our growing team of professionals and be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring health and safety codes are followed, training workers in the responsible use of machinery, identifying problems in the production line, troubleshooting equipment, and completing various administrative tasks.
To be successful as a production engineer, you should be an independent thinker and keen problem-solver. Outstanding production engineers can diagnose problems, train staff, and provide effective recommendations.
What you'll do:
- Supervising the manufacturing processes, ensuring quality work is done in a safe, efficient manner.
- Liaising with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labor.
- Diagnosing problems in the production line and providing recommendations and training.
- Establishing safety procedures and protocols
- Keeping abreast of advancements in engineering and production
- Working within a production MRP system to maintain inventory, order stock, and efficiently utilize staff and assets.
- Assist the Program Manager in maintaining punctual production schedules and risk reduction
- Identifying, documenting, and reporting unsafe practices.
- Drawing up production schedules and budgets for projects.
- Scheduling meetings with relevant departments and stakeholders.
- Analyzing all facets of production and making recommendations for improvement.
- Obtaining any materials and equipment required.
- Experience developing solutions integrating and extending COTS products
- Experience integrating COTS and GOTS products from multiple vendors
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s, or higher level, degree in in an engineering discipline or technical field (this may include, but is not limited to: computer science, computer engineering, engineering, engineering management, information science, information systems management, information technology, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management and system engineering) (BS 12-15, MS 10-13. Phd 10+)
- Substantial professional experience leading advanced technical teams
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt)
- (5-8) years of experience in planning and leading production efforts
- Relevant license or CNC Machining Certificate may be required.
- Experience with CAD software, welding, and QA processes for production.
- Experience in DOD production, material handling and Certificates of Compliance.
- Superb analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking, and strong leadership abilities.
- Familiar with special coatings, finishings, and chemical conversion treatments
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Significant professional experience leading advanced technical teams
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or related science or technical field from an accredited college or university
- (8-10) years of professional experience leading advanced technical teams
- CNC Machining Certificate
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
- Total Quality Management certification
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt)
- Experience with Unmanned Systems
- Active Secret or TS/SCI Clearance
