Daktronics is seeking a Production Manager for Daktronics Creative Services. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining operational efficiency, overseeing workflow, and maximizing the utilization of our creative resources. Strong operations management experience, a solid understanding of creative processes, and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills are required for the ideal candidate. In our pursuit of waste elimination, Daktronics is guided by lean principles and committed to continuous improvement. Successful operations require businesses to consider key factors such as demand and capacity planning, which this role will lead and build.
We have a strong preference for this individual to reside near our corporate headquarters in South Dakota. Much of the work for this position can be done from a home office. A typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (CT), though hours may vary depending on business need.
Role Responsibilities:
Operational Efficiency:
- Develop, implement, and optimize operational processes and workflows to enhance productivity and efficiency within the creative services team.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with creative services goals.
- Streamline communication and collaboration across teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Support digital artists, project managers, and account managers with managing customer requirements, communications, and balancing project schedules and budgets.
- Work with teams to expand and manage external vendor programs, overseeing their onboarding and helping them navigate Daktronics.
- Accountable for operational delivery: timelines, budgets, resources, process management.
- Eliminate barriers, educate sales teams, influence partner choice, and optimize creative workflow.
- Build and leverage broadly – look for opportunities to leverage what we do in one area to other areas on a large scale.
Demand and Capacity Management:
- Provide a forecast of the needs in the short, medium, and long term based on the demands and requirements.
- Translate the demand into the time required, types of activities, and necessary skills to define capacity needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain insights into demand streams, establish and execute strategies for capturing this demand within systems that facilitate efficient planning and forecasting mechanisms.
Workflow Management:
- Track, analyze, and evaluate the department's overall workflow, ensuring timelines are being met while upholding high standards of both quality and creativity.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflow progress and prompt resolution of any issues.
- Create tools that will improve visibility and provide valuable insights into project statuses, with the goal of establishing a clear and organized workflow tracking system.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Assist in budget planning and management related to creative services operations and project execution.
- Identify and implement cost-effective strategies without compromising quality or service.
Leadership:
- Positively communicate company perspective, vision, and direction to employees.
- Grow individuals through Precision Leadership.
- Support and take part in process improvement initiatives, implement efficiencies, and problem solving.
- Set and communicate clear expectations for work and work assignments while balancing load and capacity.
- Appropriately assign planned work to employees to deliver teams results and to develop/grow individuals on the team.
- Foster teamwork by effectively communicating the importance to employees the relationship between quality work, customer service, and customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Business Process Management or a Bachelor's degree with related experience/certification required.
- Possess over 5 years of experience in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization in creative workflows.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workflow process mapping and optimization, with a focus on team creation and tool utilization.
- Proficient knowledge in production processes, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in design principles, creative outputs, tools, and systems.
- Demonstrate a strong aptitude for analyzing and resolving workflow bottlenecks through effective problem-solving techniques.
- Skilled in implementing innovative and adaptable workflows to improve both efficiency and creativity.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a proficiency in effectively prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines.
- Proficient in effectively managing multiple projects concurrently while upholding a high standard of work.
- Effective interpersonal skills for promoting collaboration among teams from different functional areas.
- Demonstrate a willingness to thrive in a dynamic work environment and quickly respond to evolving client demands.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills for concise articulation of project goals, timelines, and feedback.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked. Must be able to meet and maintain Daktronics Qualified Driver status.
