Overview
The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the manufacturing process and ensuring efficiency and quality in the production operations. They are responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of production workers to meet production targets while maintaining safety and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers to ensure efficient and timely production
Implement and enforce safety regulations and quality control standards in the production process
Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to maintain optimal production levels
Train, mentor, and coach production staff to ensure skill development and adherence to best practices
Resolve production issues and collaborate with maintenance and support teams to minimize downtime
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to production team members
Manage inventory levels and ensure availability of necessary materials for production
Collaborate with management to develop production strategies, goals, and objectives
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
Prepare production reports and maintain production records
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and company policies
Participate in the hiring and onboarding process for production team members
Lead by example to promote a positive and productive work environment
Monitor and control production costs to meet budgetary constraints
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant field
Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and safety regulations
Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to motivate and coach teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with diverse teams
Proficient in using production management software and MS Office applications
Sound understanding of inventory management, cost control, and production planning
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound operational decisions
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization techniques
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and environmental health and safety standards
Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
Willingness to work flexible hours and demonstrate a strong work ethic
Certification in production management or related field is a plus
Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety and quality in the workplace
