About the Job
Impact Recruitment has immediate full-time openings for Graduate or Registered Professional Civil Engineers with experience in land development or municipal/roadway design. This position reports to a Team Leader or Project Manager and is responsible for efficient design of Civil Engineering projects.
The candidate will be expected to use their education, experience, intelligence and common sense to resolve engineering problems and tasks they are assigned. However, more experienced staff are always available to help when necessary. More specifically, this position includes, but is not limited to:
- Perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed project designs.
- Analyze reports, maps, drawings, reference plans, GIS Data, tests and aerial photographs for design task(s).
- Make calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design.
- Conduct project research under direction of Project Manager or Team Leader.
- Provide information to Team Leader or Project Manager for incorporation into specifications or designs.
- Attend client meetings as requested.
- Maintain familiarity with currently-accepted standards and methods (Professional Industry & Firm).
- Monitor and stay abreast of new developments, technologies and trends in the profession.
- Prepare drawings for own designs or produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by technicians.
- May assign task(s) to other engineers and technicians as required to meet schedule and budget requirements.
- Review drawings and provide assistance, as needed, to improve quality, efficiency and competence of work being performed.
- Keep Team Leader or Project Manager informed of work load and any issues that may affect project scope, schedule or additional services.
- Conduct site visits/field observations/ investigations as directed and authorized.
- Organize and maintain project files. Maintain neat and organized work area.
Candidates must have a civil engineering degree from an accredited university degree program as well as two to six years of experience in land development or municipal/roadway design. Candidates must either be an Engineer in Training or a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Excellent written/verbal communication skills are required. Candidates must have experience utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office software. Candidates must possess a valid driver license and have a good driving record. Candidates should also be able to:
- Gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions.
- Perform engineering calculations; calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
- Manage competing demands; use time effectively.
- Work with tight deadlines and within constraints.
- Deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events, including addressing such events after-hours and on weekends.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- As directed, assist in supervising and directing the work of others.
- Maintain confidentiality.
