Veterinary Surgical Instruments Technician
Ocean State Veterinary Specialists is looking to add an experienced surgical instrument technician to our surgery department. The primary responsibility for this position is to support the surgery service and provide quality control to ensure excellent patient care. All positions require some evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Full time positions carry a generous benefits package.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Clean and package any surgical instruments. Inventory surgical instruments and notify manager if an order is necessary
- Regular maintenance on the autoclave machine.
- Deep cleaning of the Sx Prep Room, including walls, floors, counters, moving equipment as needed to clean
- Deep cleaning of the OR, including ceiling, walls, table, and floor dusting cleaning with appropriate solutions
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Associates Degree preferred but not required
- Ability to lift/drag/pull up to 35 lbs, and work on feet majority of shift
- Professional, pleasant, engaged, clear communicator who is attentive and respectful to referring veterinarians, clients, and co-workers.
- Must be able to follow direction, balance multiple tasks, be confident, and prioritize tasks appropriately.

OSVS is located in East Greenwich, RI with a satellite facility in Swansea, MA. OSVS is a 35,000 sf building with a very busy emergency service, a nationally-respected internship and residency program, and specialists in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Avian/Exotics. Specialized equipment includes telemetry, endoscopy, CT scanner, ultrasound, and MRI.
