This is a position at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). However, once the CFPB completes their selections, the remaining list of qualified candidates may be shared with additional federal agencies that share a variety of consumer protection, competition, and civil rights authorities.
Responsibilities
As a Program Technologist, you will:
- Lead and implement complex, cross-agency strategic and investigative efforts on one or more of the following areas to further consumer protection: data privacy and security, eliminating algorithmic bias, industry use of generative AI, data monetization, improving government services, emerging technologies, and delivery-driven, human-centered policymaking.
- Work on cross-functional teams with management, attorneys, economists, or examiners to detect and prevent unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices in today's marketplace. Provides advice and guidance about technical strategies to help colleagues understand key aspects of products or services at issue in an investigation, policy, litigation, or exam.
- Research, evaluate, and report on new and emerging developments with software products, technologies, trends, product management strategies, and advancements in industry.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and offices within an agency in the development of strategies related to their technical area of expertise to effectively protect consumers. Ensures that technologists can more effectively, efficiently, or systematically support investigative and policymaking initiatives.
