This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Project Architect for our Chicago, IL office. Be involved in projects with our Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the design, conceptual development, and construction of building projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with conceptually visualizing projects, preparing drawings, specifications, budgets, and construction documents, and developing and presenting design proposals. Generates accurate and concise drawings, renderings, and documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural integrity, and occupancy.
Your Impact
- Support the project managers in the creation and development of overall design concepts for new buildings as well as renovation projects.
- Provide creative and process leadership to multiple design teams through all phases of project development.
- Perform design and architectural duties as directed by the project manager.
- Able to both take direction and lead junior staff.
- Support the project’s documentation process.
- Support the development of building system concepts for project development.
- Support material and product research for projects.
- Attend and lead project meetings with clients and subconsultants.
- Direct all aspects of the in-house construction documentation process.
- Coordinate efforts of Civil, Structural, MEP/FP consultants.
- Communicate with Municipalities and Agencies regarding code compliance and requirements.
- Administrative support during the construction process.
- Perform other project-related tasks as assigned by the discipline project leader.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
- BArch or BS/BA in an Architectural Program (licensure not required)
- 5-7 years of architecture and design experience with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale.
- Previous work with transportation projects and agencies a plus.
- Computer skills to include AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam
- Following skills a plus: Power point, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max
- Desire to develop strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills.
- Construction documentation and technical design detail development experience.
- Excellent analytical/problem solving skills and outstanding communication skills are required.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas and provide direction clearly and efficiently.
