Intertek is searching for a Project Engineer to join our Building & Constructionteam in our York, PA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Engineering!
The Project Engineer will support the Building and Construction business by performing all aspects of building product evaluation to assess conformance with applicable building codes and product standards, with supervision and guidance from Sr. Project Engineers and engineering managers.
What you will do:
- Conduct research of building codes, regulations, product standards, manufacturing methods, and quality control systems as necessary to assess building code compliance of building materials, products and methods of construction.
- Develop product test plans based upon research findings.
- Communicate with clients on building codes, test preparation, procedures, test results and reporting matters.
- Perform engineering analysis of test results to assess product performance.
- Perform engineering analysis in accordance with published design standards.
- Create comprehensive reports of product evaluation substantiating conformance with codes and related product standards.
- Communicate to customers, in both written and verbal formats, throughout the project duration.
- Develop quality control documentation and conduct manufacturing plant audits for Intertek certified products.
- Work with Engineering Services team members to support engineering projects.
- Assist with development of project proposals.
- Travel based on the needs of the business.
- Update personal knowledge and skills necessary to remain current with industry.
- Represent Intertek with participation in industry associations and, codes and standards technical committees.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- A Project Engineer must have the experience and/or education equivalent to a Bachelors' degree in engineering (Civil, Structural, or Mechanical) or closely related field of physical science. E.I.T is beneficial.
- Knowledgeable in construction material characteristics and applications, manufacturing techniques, supply sources and engineering principles.
- Knowledgeable of the U. S. Building Codes, applicable product standards.
- Working knowledge of equipment, test methods, and applicable specifications associated with areas of responsibility and must be technically competent to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with clients.
- Good written and oral communication skills supporting interactions with project team, clients, and coworkers.
- Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and reliable.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
- Follow and enforce safety requirements and company policies.
- Travel as necessary for projects and clients
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
