Project Engineer (Structures/ Bridges)
Charlotte, NC
This position is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and managing onsite construction engineering activities for heavy highway projects varying in size to ensure quality and cost effectiveness. Supporting NCDOT projects $50M+, including improvements, widening, and new highway construction. Experience with bridges, structures, earthwork, water/ sewer/ storm utilities, and asphalt paving is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Acquire, organize, review and distribute project submittals
- Maintain Plan Drawings and Revisions
- Create and maintain all required Project Logs
- Perform Material Take-Offs
- Communicate with the owner and client representatives
- Calculate pricing and issue contracts and purchase orders for subcontractors and suppliers
- Schedule subcontractor work and supplier material deliveries
- Maintain a highly organized work area and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Write reports, business correspondence, and project documents
- Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (not required)
- 3+ years of experience working at a self-perform sitework or highway construction contractor
- Preferred software experience: Procore, HCSS HeavyJob, AGTEK, Primavera Scheduling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines
