Project Engineer - Direct Hire
Brooklyn Park, MN
Currently looking for a skilled individual to fill a Direct Hire Project Engineer opening with a company in Brooklyn Park, MN. Interested candidates should have a Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline, experience managing/supporting new manufacturing programs (injection mold experience preferred) from inception through validation, and strong client services skills.
Project Engineer Job Description:
- Serve as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring customer expectations and timelines are met.
- Develop manufacturing process solutions to meet customer needs, including analyzing designs for manufacturability issues and collaborating with customers to resolve them.
- Foster teamwork and lead cross-functional teams including tooling, processing, and quality, to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Support Quality Assurance in conducting First Article Inspections (FAI) and reporting.
- Manage IQ/OQ/PQ validations for medical devices in collaboration with the Quality team.
- Occasionally design manufacturing aids such as fixtures, end-of-arm tooling, and automation systems using SolidWorks.
- Evaluate the moldability of customer products and tooling designs.
- Lead continuous improvement projects using lean tools and formal problem-solving techniques.
- Identify and execute projects to reduce costs and throughput time in manufacturing processes.
- Assist Operations in capacity planning and factory layout optimization.
- Maintain and set priorities for the tooling, processing, and quality departments for new projects and program qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Preferred experience in injection molding and medical device manufacturing.
- Injection molding certifications or qualifications are preferred.
- Alternatively, 5 years of related work experience managing projects or customers.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
- Proficiency in project management, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Project and familiarity with Agile, SCRUM, and Kanban methodologies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing vendor timelines and controlling costs.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing techniques and tools.
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Knowledge in injection molding part Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and mold design is highly beneficial.
- Ability to design and execute design of experiments is a plus.

The starting salary for the Project Engineer position is $90k-$105k annually.
