About being our Project Management Specialist
As the Project Management Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting project delivery through unique skills and talents such as risk management, project control, project management system management, development of project management subplans, financial management, and grant acquisition to ensure that the projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. The Project Management Specialist will work on various phases of project development that include: initiation, planning, design, right of way, construction, and close-out.
Responsibility Highlights for our Project Management Specialist
- Support the management of a portfolio of transportation projects through the various phases of project development (initiation, planning, design, right of way, construction, and close-out)
- Assist the Caltrans team members and external stakeholders to ensure that project goals and objectives are met
- Assist the development of project schedules and budgets, and supporting the Project Manager and Project Team in ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Assist in monitoring and mitigating project risks and issues, and support the development of mitigation strategies as needed
- Help in assuring that all project documentation is complete and up to date, including project plans, schedules, budgets, and status reports
- Support the Project Manager in coordination of other Caltrans departments and external agencies to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with state and federal regulations nd guidelines
- Assist the Project Manager with providing regular project updates to stakeholders, including project sponsors, management, and the public
- Assist with the development and maintenance of relationships with stakeholders, including community groups, elected officials, and other interested parties
Minimum Qualifications to be our Project Management Specialist
- Active Professional Engineering License in California (PE)
- CertifiedProject Management Professional (PMP)or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Planning, other related discipline
- 5+ years of documented demonstrated experience acceptable by Caltrans delivering highway projectsandone of the following:
- 1 year of experience acceptable to Caltrans as a Project Manager
or
- 5 years of experience acceptable to Caltrans as a Project Engineer
- Experience and expertise in risk management, earned value management, and resource loaded critical path method (CPM) scheduling
- Certified expert user of the Open Workbench (Prsm software) scheduling software from CA Clarity
- Experience in supporting the management or delivery of highway projects
- Familiarity with State Department of Transportation and FHWA procedures
- Ability to work on-site in a Caltrans District Office
