Job Opportunity at the State of Michigan
The State of Michigan is seeking a skilled professional to join our team. This is a hybrid role based in Lansing, MI, requiring on-site presence two days a week from the start - specifically on Tuesday and Wednesday. This position is initially for a duration of one year with the possibility of extension. Only local candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and coordinate work teams following standard project management practices.
- Understand business and technical objectives, working closely with project sponsors.
- Create project charters, work plans, and track budget and schedule progress using appropriate metrics.
- Establish project organization and methodologies, defining roles and responsibilities.
- Document risks and develop mitigation plans while managing project scope.
- Develop and implement communication plans.
- Build effective teams, assign tasks, and evaluate outcomes.
- Negotiate resources and communicate with stakeholders and project sponsors.
- Identify, track, and ensure resolution of issues and removal of barriers.
- Provide technical support to project team members.
- Handle complex application features and technical designs.
- Manage a group of applications system analysts.
- Exercise management responsibility over the achievement of performance, revenue, and profit objectives of a project and its contracts.
- Ensure that the project plan maintains tasks, schedules, estimates, and status, and disseminates information to team members and customers.
- Direct corrective actions where performance falls below objectives.
- Arrange for the assignment of responsibility to other supporting facilities, business areas, and support functions, and monitor their performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing development and infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management processes and methodologies, such as Scrum and Agile.
- Proven experience managing project scope, schedule, and cost.
- Experience in developing cost estimates and project resource requirements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Advanced experience managing programs of projects, complex projects, or multiple projects.
- Demonstrated and advanced understanding of project management methodologies.
- Professional certification is highly desirable.
- Self-directed and independent with a significant degree of creativity and latitude.
