Project Manager – Architecture Firm (Commercial Focus)
General Summary
Our client, a distinguished architecture firm specializing in large-scale commercial projects, seeks a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee project activities, quality control, and successful project delivery. Reporting to a Managing Director or Studio Director, the Project Manager is responsible for guiding project phases from initial planning and design to contract documentation, site visits, and project closeout.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises project leaders, project captains, and designers.
Essential Duties
To succeed in this role, the Project Manager will:
- Direct project activities, from design to contract document production, site visitation, and project closeout.
- Oversee drawing production, coordinate workload with project teams, and manage consultant collaboration to meet DEP and NJDOT standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders for streamlined project communication.
- Review and edit architectural specifications and ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and approval processes.
- Conduct site assessments for storm water, soil erosion, and hydro systems, while ensuring quality assurance on large-scale commercial developments.
Required Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of the project development process in commercial settings, including construction management, retail design, site planning, MEP criteria, and hydraulic engineering.
- Proven leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to provide high-quality service to commercial clients.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple aspects of project delivery.
- Expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and project management software, with proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Understanding of hydro systems, storm water management, soil erosion processes, and their applications in commercial construction.
- Knowledge of DEP, NJDOT, and local zoning regulations as related to commercial architecture projects.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture or a related field.
- 6-10 years of experience in project management within commercial retail, mixed-use, or large-scale development projects.
- Licensure in architecture is preferred; foreign degree equivalents may be considered based on state-specific licensure eligibility.
