Summary
Transmission Engineering is accountable for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the engineering design, requisitioning of material and equipment, land, and construction support of transmission lines, switching stations, and load-serving substation facilities
Transmission Engineering creates and maintains engineering drawings and documentation for the transmission infrastructure in the Oncor system
With minimal supervision, this Project Planning Analyst Associate/Project Planning Analyst position will be responsible for analyzing budgets, preparing reports on capital Transmission projects, and performing various project related tasks as detailed below
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent will: + Provide analytical and administrative support to Transmission Engineering + Prepare and initiate Work Authorization approval routing and assignment of proper budgetary accounting + Reimbursable type project review, analysis, billing, and tracking along with invoice creation for associated receivables + Prepares detailed FIM reports and analyzes monthly journals + Create Construction Work in Progress (CWIP) reports for department budget, aging projects, and project in service analysis
+ Proactively monitor Transmission Engineering projects to provide accounting oversight and capital variance identification + Assist with developing internal controls and establish processes that enhance visibility and improve accuracy in cost accounting + Assist with preparing and analyzing project data within assigned programs as required - PETE, FIM, Maximo, ProjectWise + Proactively monitor project data to identify/resolve schedule and cost variances + Prepare financial reports for Transmission capital budgets at various category, project, and organizational levels + Assist in the development of year-end capital budget forecasting analysis + Utilize analysis tools to translate large quantities of data into actionable information suitable for use by various work groups + Provide documentation necessary for SOX control and audit requests + Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements + Perform other duties as assigned
Experience & Skills
_Associate:_
+ Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills + Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously + Ability to analyze, manage and generate various capital budgeting reports and summaries + Effective analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills + Capable of working with people of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience + Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook + Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills + Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously + Experience with FIM, PETE, Reporting systems, and Invoice database programs is preferred + An understanding of accounting principles such as: GAAP, SOX, and General Ledger is preferred
_Analyst:_
_In addition to the experience and skills listed under associate:_
+ Two years of experience in data, financial or technical analysis + Experience in data, financial or technical analysis preferred + Experience in Utility Design and/or Transmission Operations preferred + Knowledge of the Transmission capital project or material management process is preferred + Demonstrated ability to create and analyze reports of increased complexity + Able to set priorities without having full project requirements known
Education
+ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; college degree in a related field is a plus
