About the Job
As the Psychiatry Residency Director, you will:
- Develop and launch a new Psychiatry Residency Program (PRP) serving northern Arizona, including achieving initial program accreditation.
- Oversee the administrative, clinical, and teaching components of the PRP by performing various duties personally or through staff.
- Serve as a member of the North Country HealthCare Leadership Team and provide direct patient care within the PRP.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and direct all aspects of the PRP in consultation with organizational leadership.
Duties Include:
- Developing and implementing program curricula, policies, faculty, community partnerships, and other needs.
- Monitoring operational results, managing budgets, supervising staff including residents, and overseeing day-to-day program operations.
- Ensuring compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), institutional, and department policies and requirements.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Required: M.D. or D.O degree, current board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or osteopathic equivalent, current or eligible medical licensure in Arizona, eligible for successful appointment to Flagstaff Medical Center and The Guidance Center, at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.
- Preferred: Experience as a faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program, knowledge of ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, creative, and experienced leader and teacher, capable of building a curriculum, engaging faculty colleagues, and integrating with the local medical staff and northern Arizona healthcare community.
