To create a positive, dynamic image for the hotel with customers, guests and the community through local, regional, national and global efforts as necessary. Contribute to the positive financial success of the hotel through strategic tactical communications efforts. Develops, coordinates, and manages public relations activities for organization by performing target communication to media targets that will promote and distribute relevant information about hotel functions, events, personnel and other activities that create positive impressions about the hotel and brand.
Responsibilities:- Initiate and maintain positive relationships with local, national, and international media in order to generate newsworthy publicity. Develop media programs and act as designated company spokesperson with the media.
- Designs PR objectives and strategies to meet hotel’s goals including key messages targeted publics, company position statements and promotional campaigns. Develops annual Public Relations plan with the DM to effectively accomplish objectives stated.
- Manage all 3rd party agencies in cooperation with hotel efforts to meet marketing objectives, reach targeted markets and convey accurate message. Works with other departments within the hotel to coordinate public relations activities with promotional and sales activities.
- Plans, writes and manages the development of all press informational materials, special photography, newsletters, press releases and other communication vehicles necessary to publicize and promote the company in general and special programs in particular.
- Researches and writes copy for promotional materials. Create positive, strong presence with targeted contacts in local community (including media) by participating in civic and professional organizations. Entertain and inform media outlets of all relevant happenings at hotel by building trusted relationships.
- Update, write and manage content posted to resort website, 3rd party property listings, media outlets, tourism newsletters, advertisers, etc.
- Develops and executes content (video, photography, etc) for all social media channels. Create a strategic calendar and engage with customers to enhance the guest experience.
- Manages and crafts guest service recovery responses for 3rd party public review sites such as Trip Advisor, Yelp, etc
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- BA/BS in marketing, communications, journalism.
- Basic image editing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools
- Minimum 1-3+ years experience in a public relations related role, preferably for a luxury brand.
- Hospitality industry knowledge a strong plus
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader.
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of the Microsoft Office programs – Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.
- Video production and photography knowledge preferred.
- Aptitude and eagerness to understand E-Commerce, Mobile, Content Marketing and Social Media
- Ability to multi-task in demanding/quick turn environment, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Proven success of building strategic campaigns and solving business queries
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
