The Purchasing Agent role is primarily an office role. A Purchasing Agent finds and purchases products for a company to use or resell. Their duties include locating suppliers, researching goods, services and materials and processing purchasing orders. MAPC is seeking a long-term employee who is looking for a career growth path with the company and is willing to take on a diverse set of challenges. The job offers opportunities to hone your management skills, expand them into additional technical or commercial areas, and be part of a fast-moving, energetic, closely knit team.
The Purchasing agent is responsible for assisting with the management of:
- Initiating, updating and sending purchase orders to vendors.
- Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Authorizing payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories
- Developing Materials & Equipment purchasing plans
- Coordinating Internal and customer inspections of materials and finished product
- Coordinating shipment of materials and finished product
- Assisting in the management of program & vendor documentation including materials certs, CoCs and test reports
- Invoice initiation
- From time to time, this position will may require the willingness and ability to perform straightforward fabrication and assembly steps potentially including, but not limited to:
- Packaging for shipment
- Operation of pallet jacks
- Movement & Inventory of program materials
- Responsiveness: MAPC often receives a tight turnaround for purchase orders. Ability to respond to emails within 12 to 24 hours is essential to this position.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Familiarity with MS Power Point, Word and Excel.
- Professional and clear with verbal and written communication.
Preferred skills:
- Prior experience working with engineering teams on mechanical or electrical specifications.
- Knowledge of tax laws
- Prior work in defense or federal acquisition related environments.
