As a Purchasing Assistant, you will support our purchasing and estimating teams in ensuring that all materials and supplies for our construction projects are accurately estimated, sourced, and procured. This role is ideal for someone who is looking to start or grow their career in construction management, with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience in residential construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects.
- Support the purchasing team in sourcing and ordering materials, ensuring that all supplies meet project specifications and budget requirements.
- Perform takeoffs and generate material lists for new construction projects.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain pricing, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships.
- Input and maintain data in our construction management software, IHMS, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all projects.
- Communicate with project managers and field staff to ensure that materials are delivered on time and meet project needs.
- Provide administrative support to the purchasing and estimating teams as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Prior experience in residential construction, purchasing, or estimating is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with construction management software, particularly IHMS, is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn about construction materials, methods, and regulations.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Eager to learn, with the ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Enthusiastic about problem-solving and eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
