Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced purchasing manager to handle our company's procurement activities. The purchasing manager's responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies and managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
- Inventory Management: Maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet theater demands without overstocking or running out of materials. This includes managing safety stock, reorder points, and inventory turnover rates.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborating with suppliers, commodity teams, and other departments to ensure a smooth flow of materials/services through the supply chain. This includes tracking shipments, resolving delays, and coordinating with logistics.
- Material Planning and Forecasting: Analyzing demand forecasts, and lead times to create material requirements plans. Ensuring that materials are ordered in the correct quantities and delivered on time to avoid any disruptions.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Working closely with suppliers to negotiate terms, monitor performance, resolve issues, and develop long-term relationships. Assessing supplier reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Cost Management: Work closely with commodities teams to reduce material /service costs, such as negotiating better prices with suppliers, finding alternative suppliers, or optimizing inventory levels. Managing material budgets and tracking expenses.
- Team Leadership and Development: Leading, mentoring, and training the team. Establishing clear objectives, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring team members have the resources and knowledge to perform effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software.
