About the Job
- Responsible for site QMS i.e.., Mgt. Review, Calibration, CAPA, NCR, Calibration etc.
- Chairs the Material Review Board
- Chairs the Corrective Action Board and provide metrics.
- Partner with suppliers to assure high quality of incoming product.
- Perform internal and supplier AS9100D audits.
- Continually improve quality program, including policies, objectives, plans, organization, procedures, and appraisals.
- Generates regular progress, summary, and management review reports.
- Through knowledge of quality improvement tools, including:
- 5 Why
- 8 D
- Fishbone
- Poke-yoke
- NPI
- FMEA's
- Manage the Inspection and Quality Engineering team.
- C ustomer quality requirements have been adequately defined to permit appropriate quality planning and implementation and that these quality requirements are met or exceeded.
- Maintains relationships with Operations to assure adequate process capability, control, improvement, and quality information feedback.
- Works with Customers and Sales to ensure that customer quality requirements have been adequately defined to permit appropriate quality planning and implementation and that these requirements are met or exceeded.
- Interfaces with major customers to ensure Customer Satisfaction and clarify quality requirements through personal visits, verbal, and written communication.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in one or more branches of Quality Assurance including Optical Quality Inspection, Testing, and Process Improvement in the Optics or Aerospace & Defense industry. At least 5+ years of direct supervisory experience is required. Experience should also include leadership in sustaining our AS9100D quality system
- Completed Bachelor Degree in Business, Management, Quality Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, the Basic Sciences or related fields from a college or university with accreditation. ASQC Quality Management Certification
Skills
- Providing training and guidance to staff and direct reports.
- Provide leadership to the quality organization to help drive a proactive approach with improvements throughout the Business Unit.
- Lead Management Review meetings to help drive continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and understanding of military and quality specifications such as Mil-Specs, ANSI etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with customers, suppliers and all levels of the Business Unit.
- Strong interpersonal, team, and problem-solving skills.
- improvement initiatives to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Acts as a primary interface with Government representatives (DCMAO) and customer source inspection personnel. Coordinates government and customer source inspections and Quality system surveys.

Physical Requirements
- Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time. 25% of the time.

- Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. No more than 10 to 15 pounds.
