The Role
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, executing, and improving the Quality Management System to help drive improvements in our processes and product quality at a pace consistent with the needs of our customers.
External US:Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Strong knowledge and experience as a quality assurance resource for data analysis, problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Driving problem solving methodologies (8D/MBPS) to find root cause of observed defects devise a short-term contaminant strategy and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems, per internal and external customer expectations. Includes facilitating customer taskforce activities.
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control Interact with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
- Actively lead and participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Support the manufacturing groups to design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
- Support consistent metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring systems effectiveness.
- Interface with suppliers and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
- Drive ISO-9001 initiatives in order to maintain certifications.
- Lead the delivery of medium to large improvement projects through the implementation of Lean Six Sigma and project management tools.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality and Product management to identify, and reduce sources of chronic customer complaints, manufacturing and laboratory quality issues, waste/scrap generation, and improve overall production inefficiencies.
- Provides leadership and mentoring to the organization on Lean principles, by promoting the use of Six Sigma methodology (DMAIC, Kaizen, etc)
- Creates key process flows and/or value stream maps.
- Performs capability and other statistical assessments to meet organization goals in reducing process variability
- All other reasonable duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering or Quality Engineering, with specialization in Quality Systems and Statistics.
- Must have 5+ years of experience in QA systems, (semiconductor industry preferred).
- Direct experience with ISO9001 or equivalent Quality Management System.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively (verbal/written/presentations) at all levels both internally and externally.
- Must have experience as a quality assurance resource for data analysis, problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge and experience for problem solving techniques such 5 why's, Fishbone, Process mapping, etc. in order to identify root cause and define CAPA.
- Working knowledge of JMP statistical software is especially desirable or equivalent, SAP knowledge helpful.
- Visits to other manufacturing sites, supplier, and customer sites (including occasional overseas travel).
- Experience in design and development of new product introduction.
- Certified Quality Auditor / Engineer preferred.
- Six Sigma (DMAIC) - Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of PPAP APQP, VDA preferred
- Must have excellent computer skills (Power-Point, Excel and statistical software tools).
- Thorough understanding of general safety requirements
Other Requirements:
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively (verbal/written/presentations) at all levels.
- A good working knowledge of statistics and applicable quality methodologies is required (e.g., Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, 8D, root cause analysis, etc.).
- Must have excellent computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel and statistical software tools).
- Working knowledge of JMP statistical software is especially desirable; SAP knowledge helpful.
- Visits to other manufacturing sites, supplier, and customer sites (including occasional overseas travel). Expected travel – 3 days/month.
