About the Job
Ultimate Staffing is seeking an Metrology Engineer for one of our St. Louis, Mo clients. Candidates must be local to St. Louis, MO and available for an onsite schedule. This is a direct hire position.
As the Metrology Engineer you will specialists in engineering-related measurements. Help manufacturing facilities improve production work by Calibrating instruments, Designing new tools or systems of measurement, Interpreting data, Researching the science of measuring, and Outlining the standards for quality assurance and quality control.
Floor Operations
Support shift start-ups
Oversee new part launches and check-outs
Manage weld verification (cut/etch)
Assist as needed
Customer Support
Address new product requirements
Handle first part approvals and ISIRs
Assist with customer quality issues
Perform statistical analysis (e.g., process capability, R&R)
Quality Tools Management
Assess and select quality tools (e.g., bend boards, gauges, CMM)
Purchase and work with vendors to design and order quality tooling
Write instructions and train others on tool usage
Oversee tooling condition (certification, calibration, repair, storage)
Maintain documentation (tool design, calibration, usage records)
New Project Involvement
Participate in new project reviews, defining inspection requirements
Provide input on part tolerances and materials
Design, certify, and calibrate inspection tooling for new projects
Perform full inspection layouts and handle first article approvals (ISIRs)
Quality Document Control
Ensure current part drawings and quality documents are up to date
Education/Experience
Combination of education and experience in Quality Management or related fields
Professional degree/training in Quality Management and SPC, or 2-5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge
In-depth understanding of Quality Management principles and SPC (Statistical Process Control)
Proficient in the use of quality control tools and equipment
Skills
Accurate recordkeeping and report management
Efficient time and material management to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables
Strong problem-solving abilities in process improvement
Effective verbal and written communication with diverse groups
Ability to maintain strong working relationships across departments and with customers
