Summary of Position:
In the role of an R&D Chemist, you'll be at the forefront of chemical research and development, specializing in binder systems, adhesives, oils, and loosefill fluids. You'll spearhead plant chemical trials and offer essential chemical support to plants when necessary. Your expertise will be crucial in analyzing data, communicating results, and providing insightful conclusions and recommendations.
Responsibilities:- Develops new and optimizes existing binder systems and additives according to performance requirements; conducts laboratory experiments including chemical synthesis, formulations, analyses, test specimen preparation and physical testing
- Conducts physical and chemical product testing for evaluating new binder formulations
- Leads and supports plant trials (some travel & off-hours required)
- Develops new and modifies existing test methods to measure required properties of binder systems and additives
- Analyzes data & prepares summaries, recommendations, and research reports
- Develops chemical solutions to problems faced by production processes and customer applications
- Develops new chemistries to satisfy market opportunities
- Maintains and improves lab equipment and infrastructure
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry Required
- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Chemistry Preferred
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of laboratory experience
- Organic, Polymer, and/or Analytical lab experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time as needed
