The Watts Internship Program is your chance to bring what you’ve learned in the classroom to life! You’ll dive into real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience while learning how business really works from the inside. During the program, you’ll get to roll up your sleeves and make an impact on day-to-day operations. Plus, you'll have tons of opportunities to network with passionate professionals across manufacturing, industrial engineering, and more—sparking new ideas through cross-department collaboration. It’s all about expanding your skills, challenging yourself, and exploring where your ambitions can take you!

What You’ll Do  

As the R&D Engineering intern your primary responsibility is to contribute to the design, prototyping, testing and development of new products for Watts Water Technologies. 

• Provide 2D and 3D CAD design support for various NPD projects.

• Create and modify BOMs (bills of material) and MOMs (methods of manufacture).

• Compile data to demonstrate results using spreadsheets, graphs tables.

• Initiate and support the fabrication of new product designs for prototypes as well as first production.

• Create work instructions, instruction manual and other technical documents to support the manufacturing, operation and repair of new products.

• Support testing as well as other day-to-day activities associated with the development lab. This may involve the setup, execution and tear down of test apparatus.

• Collaborate with other contributors to the NPD process both inside and outside of the NPD departments to insure the successful completion of NPD projects.

Who You Are 

• Current student, rising junior or senior

• BSME or other bachelor’s degree with a mechanical engineering or engineering technology emphasis

• Passionate about your work, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully and make an impact

• Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment

• Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments

• Must be authorized to work in the United States and do not require sponsorship now or in the future

The expected salary range for this position is $21 - $23 an hour. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.

*Work Environment:

• Work in office environment 70%.

• Work in the test lab 30%.

• Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in the lab with common hand tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

*Physical Requirements  

While performing the duties, the employee will be working in an office and manufacturing environment. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects and other tools.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The Employee may be required to lift, push, and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
