The Watts Internship Program is your chance to bring what you’ve learned in the classroom to life! You’ll dive into real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience while learning how business really works from the inside. During the program, you’ll get to roll up your sleeves and make an impact on day-to-day operations. Plus, you'll have tons of opportunities to network with passionate professionals across manufacturing, industrial engineering, and more—sparking new ideas through cross-department collaboration. It’s all about expanding your skills, challenging yourself, and exploring where your ambitions can take you!
What You'll Do
As a member of the Water Quality Team, the R&D Intern will provide technical and business support to ongoing product development research. You will have exposure to proper laboratory practices, electronics & automation, prototype design and construction, methods of determining a technologies maturity.
Technical Evaluation - Follow test plans to conduct experiments to determine a technologies performance and/or maturity and create associated documentation.
Prototype Design - Assist in developing the design and methods of testing prototypes.
Hand-on Engineering and Science experience - Work with senior scientists and engineers in a hands-on capacity in a lab environment. Conduct testing and document procedures and results using lab instrumentation and measurement equipment.
Engineering and Business Software – partner with engineers to gain experience in cad environment and business software.
Who You Are
Current student (rising junior or senior) actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, with a strong interest in pursuing research and product development.
Time management: the ability to organize, multi-task, detailed oriented and solve problems analytically.
Experienced in identifying and analyzing problems/issues, making recommendations, and implementing solutions, with strong data analysis skills.
Mechanical and Electrical aptitude and experience are a plus.
Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite, CAD software, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD a plus
Ability to communicate in English, Spanish or French a bonus.
Passionate about your work, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully and make an impact
Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments
Must be authorized to work in the United States and do not require sponsorship now or in the future

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work is performed both in office and on manufacturing floor.
Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.
Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on the shop floor.
