About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Cardiovascular Intensive Care (Cardio IC) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour Nights, every other weekend, first to float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 3 years **License:** Required **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (CCRN Preferred) **Must-Have:** Recent experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within the past 6 months, Cerner experience, completion of all required training modules prior to arrival **Job Description:** - Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with 10 beds - Provide care with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 - Utilize Cerner electronic medical records system - Collaborate with a 24/7 charge nurse and resource nurse, and support staff including unit clerks - Work with various technologies including Phillips central monitors and Draeger, Hamilton G5 & Galileo ventilators - Engage with an intensivist available in-house from 7 AM to 5 PM and on-call after hours - No IV team support; respond promptly to patient needs - Maintain communication and coordination with RT and Pharmacy available 24/7 - Follow shift hours from 7 AM to 7:30 PM; scheduling requests to be made before the start of the contract - Flexible with floating to other ICUs or ER as needed for inpatient ICU holds - Complete a unit-specific orientation with a preceptor - Handle a diverse range of patients, including TAVR, Impella, IABP, lumbar drains, and manual hemodynamics, focusing on cardiovascular and cardiothoracic cases - No responsibilities for CRRT - Adhere to specific dress code requirements with navy blue scrubs and appropriate undershirts - Ability to adjust to assignment changes throughout shifts and availability for floating if necessary - Must work two out of three major winter holidays with potential requirement for additional holidays in line with permanent staff rotation
