About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** ICU (Intensive Care Unit) **Job Duration:** 18 months **Shift:** 12-hour nights, minimum every other weekend (up to 3 weekends per month), first to float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience **License:** Required **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS **Must-Have:** Experience in neuro or cardiovascular ICU **Job Description:** - AUTO-OFFER position requiring a full 3 years of recent ICU experience. - Must pass the UNA Dysrhythmia Exam 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (maximum 2 attempts). - Surgical ICU with trauma and neuro surgery specialization. - Unit consists of 32 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:2 to 1:1. - Care for Level 1 trauma patients, including falls, gunshot wounds, blunt trauma, and motor vehicle accidents. - Handle common diagnoses such as COVID, sepsis, ARDS, craniotomy, exploratory laparotomy, and specialty neuro-surgery cases. - Required to titrate a variety of drips, including propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, and more. - Charge nurses are present and do not take patients. - No monitor techs; RNs required to interpret own strips using GE monitors. - Hospitalist or intensivist available 24/7, along with round-the-clock respiratory therapists. - Self-scheduling allowed with potential adjustments by the manager for unit needs. - No call or standby requirement; however, may experience low census up to three times per contract. - Floating required to telemetry with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed. - Navy scrubs required. - Unit/department-specific orientation spans 1-2 days. - Skills validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed. - Flexible weekend and holiday requirements. **Additional Notes:** - Open to first-time travelers but must have 3 years of ICU experience. - Preference for candidates with Level 1 experience or neuro experience. - Experience in similar-sized unit ICUs preferred. - Use of Cerner charting system.
