JOB DESCRIPTION
SLMC - IR. Must have IR and NIR expereince. Must be able to monitor and sedate patients for basic to advacnce IR and NIR procedures i.e., bleeds, strokes, TIPS etc.

Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? Yes, for RN and RT(R)
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, as long as they have IR experience for RN and RT(R)
Patient Types:
Department is staffed 24/7
All adults, no peds
General IR: Kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty (not performed at night), central line/piccs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filter, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoras/paras; CT Room supported by IR - cryos, CT biopsies, drains, etc. (not performed at night); AAA intervention experience preferred
Neuro IR (experience preferred, but not required): strokes, embolization; not performed at night - DSA, WADA test, spinal angios
Patients seen in a day:
Around 40-50 patients a day on average
Required Licensure and Certifications:
RN: BLS, ACLS
Skills required:
RN: Experience with above patients, will give sedation unless anesthesia is involved, monitor and chart
Support on the Unit:
Receptionist/HUC: Two coordinators
Lead Tech: Two leads
We have two techs in each exam room, sometimes three techs if possible and it s an involved case. The same structure for taking call (Two techs per room

Respiratory Therapy: 24/7
Hospitalist: 24/7
CNA/Transporter: Yes, here 24/7; could help transport own patients though
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC experience preferred for RNs
IV pumps: Alaris
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
PACS: Change Healthcare
Equipment used?
Siemens and Client equipment experience preferred
Injector: MedRad
Other equipment (experience not required): IVUS, Ultrasound (Client), Laser, Bovie for some port removals, Angiojet
Floating: If yes, where?
No
Orientation:
Will orient with a preceptor for 1-2 weeks and be checked off
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: Call
On call for RN:
Weekday call (Monday Thursday) 1 call shift per week, EOS until following morning at 0700.
Weekend call (Friday-Sunday) Once every 5th or 6th weekend, EOS Friday until Monday at 0700
Call info for both:
Travelers will only take Neuro Call if they have Neuro experience. If not, then will just take General IR call. Travelers with Neuro IR and General IR experience can be asked to take both depending on need
If the job posting is for an overnight shift, there is no call
Response time: 30 minutes
Holiday Expectations: No holidays right now, but subject to change (would be call only)
RTO Approval: We can approve up to 7 days
Shift times when on call:
General IR: 0700-1530
Neuro: 0730-1600
Manager is open to altering shift times (i.e. if the job posting is for five 8h shift, she is willing to change to four 10h shifts or two 8s and two 12s)
