Full Time - Infection Prevention /Educator Nurse, RN
Knoxville Center for Behavioral Medicine - a comprehensive inpatient behavioral health facility. Our center will provide acute behavioral health care and outpatient treatment to adults and geriatric adults who are in crisis from severe symptoms related to behavioral health and/or substance use disorder.
As the Registered Nurse Infection Prevention/Educator Nurse, you will be responsible for the facility infection prevention and control program. This is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. Qualifications:
- Completion of an approved accredited nurse program required.
- One-year clinical experience working with in infection prevention and control
- Current professional license, per state regulation/requirements required.
- CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training available post hire and offered by facility).

Position Highlights:
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure that the facility leaders are informed of appropriate issues; understand and comply with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations.
- Collaborate with the facility leadership and the medical director to develop, implement, and evaluate the annual infection prevention goals and action plan.
- Conduct outbreak investigations.
- Maintain a system for reporting possible incidents of communicable diseases to local, state, or national agencies as required.
- Assess the need for, develop, and present IPCP in-service education for individual departments, general orientation, and annual review as needed; education includes but is not limited to:
-Hand hygiene
-Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization
-Specific direct and indirect care settings
-Therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and devices
-Use of isolation/barrier precautions
- Develop a system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all patients, staff, and other individuals.
- Complete new hire testing and training for new partners in Orientation (TB screens, fit tests etc...)
- Develop a system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all patients, staff, and other individuals.
- Provide education and training to new and tenured partners.
- Develop yearly skills fair for nursing staff
- Certified as trainer in secure training w/I 30 days provided by hospital.
- Develop plan to utilize the discharge office and patient belongings
- Other duties as assigned
