Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients with medical and surgical conditions. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to ensure optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status.
Monitor and interpret vital signs, laboratory values, and other relevant data.
Assess and manage pain levels, administer medications, and provide interventions as needed.
Care Planning:
Develop individualized care plans based on patient assessments and medical-surgical diagnoses.
Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Update care plans as patients' conditions evolve.
Clinical Procedures:
Perform various nursing procedures, including wound care, catheterization, and administration of medications.
Assist in pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients.
Monitor and manage medical equipment as required.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
Provide information on medications, self-care, and lifestyle modifications.
Promote health and wellness through preventive measures.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a cohesive approach to patient needs.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
Maintain readiness to address sudden changes in patients' conditions.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional documentation standards.
Qualifications:
Current RN license in the state of practice.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) may be required.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience:
Previous experience in a medical-surgical setting Requrred.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare technology.
