About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Mother Baby (Postpartum) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour nights, Every Other Weekend; First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years; Must have 4 years or more working in postpartum; Travel experience is preferred **License:** Required for submission **Certifications:** BLS, NRP **Must-Have:** - Experience in managing postpartum care - Ability to float to NICU to care for feeders and growers **Job Description:** - Work in a postpartum unit with 30 beds and approximately 3,300 births per year. - Provide 1 to 4 couplet care, ensuring high-quality maternal and neonatal care. - Utilize the Fetal Link and Cerner EMR systems effectively. - Collaborate with a charge nurse who may take patient assignments as necessary. - Assist in the unit supported by Nurse Aides/OB techs, typically 1-2 depending on census. - Comply with the weekend requirement of every other weekend with no on-call commitments. - Work during holidays, one major and one minor. - Follow the unit's scrub color code of navy. - Operate Tele systems by Nihon Kohden, with no vent management required. - Function within a team environment that includes an OB attending available 24 hours, pharmacy support 24/7, and RT facilities available at all times. - Engage in a floor-specific orientation over 3 shifts to acclimate to common diagnoses and patient types, including 20 weeks and above, high-risk cases such as blood pressure, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, and substance abuse. - Hospitals are recognized as the 13th largest center for births in California, requiring strong expertise in postpartum care. - Expect potential shift cancellations up to 3 per assignment per facility policy.
