Unit / Location / Floor Designation: Ortho and Oncology Medical Surgical 4th floor
Level of Care (ICU, PCU, MS, Med-Tele,
etc.): Medical Surgical
Number of Beds: 58
Patient Population (Adult, Peds, Mixed): Adults
RN Ratio (Days): Med-Surg-5 to 1
RN Ratio (Nights): Med-Surg-6 to 1
Shifts Available (8-hour, 12-hour): 12 hour
Shift Times (7A, 7P, etc): 1830-0700
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Type of Staff Scheduling:
RN's work in a Team Model with Nursing Assistants. Smart Square is our staffing tool using 6 week schedule periods.
Scrub/Uniform Color: Navy
Typical Orientation Period: One week per unit (2 weeks)

Common Patient Diagnosis:
Orthopedic surgeries ( knee, hip, shoulder), Orthopedic injuries, Oncology, Post Surgicals such as hysterectomies, breast reonrtuction, plastic surgery, Urological cases and abdominal cases. Behavioral patients awaiting medical clearance
Common Drips / Medications:
Heparin gtt, blood products

Patient Experience Challenges / Focus:
Post operative patients meeting goals to be ready for discharge home. Lots of patient moveent on unit, many discharges and admissions.
