Med Sol prescreens/auto offer/manager has 24 hs to review and rescind
need 2 sup refs (charge accepted) at submittal; 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
Modules are required to be done before start. Can take on average 3-4 hrs
Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Xmasand New Years). managers will make the final call but we would include verbiage on the confirmation. **Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed**
***PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYS EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH UNA IS TO BE SENT ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE. MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS. IT S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET TWO ATTEMPTS (TEST A SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FIRST AND IF NOT PASSED, TEST B SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FOR THE RETAKE). A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS IS ALSO REQUIRED. **We can accept the Relias basic Dys w/in the last 12 mo if the traveler has previously taken the exam**
If traveler fails the 2nd attempt, they will be made DNU for 6 mo w/ AZ and Sac

# of Beds 37 beds, 12 beds are tele rated
Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:4-5. Tele patients are 1:4
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Common diagnosis / Types of patients Many post-ops; ortho, lap chole, general surgicals. Also have psych patients with sitters on case by case basis.
Experience or 'Must have' skills Must be proficient reading & interpreting tele strips.
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips Titrate: heparin, morphine
Set rate: protonix*** morphine, amio, dobutamine
Is there a charge nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios Yes as census and staffing dictates
RT/Equipment (i.e., Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, vents, etc.) No vents. Can have Cpap, Bipap, high flow
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No monitor techs.
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 12Hr shifts: 7a-730p/7p-730a
Self-scheduling is used; but is not finalized until the manager balances it. Block scheduling is generally not available.
Travelers can access their schedules from home & make themselves "available" for extra shifts & make trades with other staff. OT and extra shifts are available.
Schedules are out 4 weeks.
Weekend Requirements Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements Rotate in with core staff
Is there Call or a Standby requirement? None
Floating Requirements? Floating to other MedSurg floors is common. Potential to also float to the ER for ER hold patients.
All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided? Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
Unit/Department Specific Orientation 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
Additional Notes Low income area. Common to have homeless and inmate patients.

" Religious declination, no supporting documentation is needed.
